Hurley Hall & Ruth Richards Hall have been designated as the summer housing facilities for Summer of 2022. You must be enrolled in courses at Catawba College, or participating in an academic internship or employment during this time or you will not be permitted to remain living on campus.
- Students enrolled ONLY in Summer Session I courses are permitted to live on campus from May 17 through June 17 at 5pm.
- Students enrolled for ONLY the Summer Session II are permitted to live on campus from June 18 through July 20 at 5pm.
- Students enrolled for both Summer Session I & II are permitted to live on campus from May 17 through July 20 at 5pm.
- There is a cost of $500 per summer session.
- We will not be offering housing before or after the dates listed in the housing contract.
- Failure to vacate on time will result in a $200 fee per 12-hour period you are late departing.
All policies and procedures outlined in the 2021-2022 Student Handbook remain in effect during summer housing. Please also note that Hurley Hall & Ruth Richards House are substance free for the summer term. This means no resident regardless of age is permitted to be in possession of or consume alcohol on site. You are also prohibited from having alcohol containers in your room. Some additional policies are listed below for your review; again, note ALL policies apply as outlined in the handbook for the summer term.
- Visitation – Overnight guests are not permitted.
- Hurley Hall & Ruth Richards House are both dry residence halls during the summer.
- You must be in possession of your Catawba ID and keys at all times and may not give them out to anyone.
- The only pets allowed are aquarium fish.
- You are responsible for all damage caused to your space and will be fined if damage occurs. Students are responsible for completing a room condition report within 5 days of move in. Any common area damage will be assessed and billed to residents living in the space if no one takes responsibility.
- Quiet Hours are: Sunday – Thursday, midnight – 9am; Friday and Saturday 2am – 9am; 24-hour consideration hours are always in effect.
- COVID-19 Policy: - All students will receive a rapid Covid 19 test upon arriving to campus unless they show proof of vaccine or have tested positive within the past 90 days. - Any student who needs to quarantine or isolate during the summer session will need to leave campus within 24 hours and quarantine/isolate at an off-campus location. The student shall bear all costs of the departure and subsequent off campus quarantine or isolation, and Catawba shall not be responsible for any such costs.
There is no meal plan for summer school. The cafeteria is not open regular hours in the summer; however you may purchase meals while camps and conferences are here. There are also kitchen facilities located in Hurley Hall and Ruth Richards House. The kitchens should be kept clean after using them. You may also use the full-size refrigerator/freezer but note that it is in common space and everyone in the building has access to it. The kitchen space must be kept clean at all times or access will be revoked.
Please be advised that summer housing is a privilege and not a right. Failure to comply with any terms and conditions outlined in the handbook or this contact may result in removal from summer housing (with no refund of money regardless of time). The Office of Student Affairs also reserves the right to conduct health and safety inspections throughout the summer term to ensure the safety of all residents.
Due to limited space, housing cannot be guaranteed to everyone who applies. Priority will be given to those who are working internships.
