Catawba College (“Catawba”) welcomes applications for an Academic and Career Advising Specialist in the Ketner School of Business (“KSOB”) to begin in August, 2022. The Advising Specialist will advise and mentor undergraduate students and develop and implement programming engaging sophomore and junior students in the KSOB.
The position presents a unique opportunity for a student success or business professional committed to undergraduate education in a learning environment valuing the personal formation of students, the exploration of vocation, and interaction with faculty, staff, and students who routinely work across varied disciplines. The candidate must value the ethos and rhythm of small-college life.
The Advising Specialist will meet individually and in small group settings with students. In this role, the selected candidate provides student-centered guidance, curriculum planning, academic advising, assistance in selecting concentrations/minors/courses, initial exploration into career options, foundational level of academic support, and assistance connecting students with clubs and organizations. The Advising Specialist must be able to develop collaborative relationships with faculty advisors to provide excellent service to Catawba students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct academic and career advising for all undergraduate students within the KSOB
- Serve as on-boarding advisor for newly declared and transfer students within the KSOB, with particular emphasis on students in their sophomore and junior levels
- Assist students with operational processes, including course registration, withdrawal, change of major/minors, and override requests
- Maintain student records in accordance with existing policies, procedures, and regulations
- Assist students with foundational career exploration and guide students in opportunities offered through Career Services
- Build collaborative and supportive relationships with academic and career-related offices and Catawba faculty
- Manage student record maintenance and assist students in tracking degree progress
- Represent the KSOB at undergraduate admission and orientation events throughout the year
- Make appropriate referrals to professionals across campus
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree required; preference given to candidates with credentials in business-related field
- Excellent problem solving, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

ABOUT CATAWBA:
Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the valleys of the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution and the first woman graduate completed her studies in 1893. In 1925, Catawba moved and re-opened to its current location in Salisbury, NC, which is about 45 minutes from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, two hours from the mountains, and four hours from the beaches.

- Act as office manager to the Office of the General Counsel and the Human Resources Department
- Receive and enter employee demographic, salary, and job data into Banner, Maxwell Health, and other Human Resources databases and software systems
- Open files in electronic human resources and/or law drives and prepare hard copy files
- Organize and maintain files and database of litigation involving Catawba
- Scan documents to electronic human resources and/or law drives
- Prepare, copy, and distribute correspondence, reports, presentations and other documents; assist with preparing, processing, and drafting selected e-mail and other documents
- Schedule appointments and meetings, and manage calendars and appointments
- Process routine forms, including purchase requests, employee action forms, travel forms

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee must successfully meet to perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement is required. This would require the ability to lift files and file boxes, open filing cabinets, walking, and bending or standing as necessary. Performance of job duties on nights and weekends may be required in this position.

Position Status: Full-Time, Ten Month Position (August 1-May 31)
Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine
Catawba College (“Catawba”) Athletics seeks candidates to serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position primarily serving the Men’s Basketball Team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and deliver comprehensive athletic training services to Catawba student-athletes
- Evaluate and treat student-athlete injuries occurring at practices, games, and other Catawba athletic activities
- In coordination with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, design and supervise rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
- Administer athletic training operations as assigned and work with team physicians
- Attend assigned team(s) practices and games
- Travel with assigned team(s) travel, which will include some holidays and weekends
- Work primarily with the Men's Basketball Teams and will assist with secondary sports as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
- Candidate must be nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
- Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of North Carolina required
- Candidate must possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently with multiple team assignments
- At least three (3) years of intercollegiate athletic training experience preferred

Catawba College (“Catawba”) welcomes applications for the position of Associate Director of Admissions for Online and Graduate Programs. The Associate Director provides leadership and coordination of online and graduate program admissions and recruitment at Catawba. The portfolio of online programs currently offered by Catawba includes birth-kindergarten education, business, information technology, RN-to-BSN, and general studies. Catawba currently offers graduate programs in business administration, sports management, and clinical mental health counseling. Applicants for this position should have a bachelor’s degree or masters from an accredited college or university, with adult learner enrollment management experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage a team of two (2) admissions representatives, and online and/or graduate admissions staff members
- Ensure online and graduate student enrollment goals are met
- Lead comprehensive recruitment strategies for online degree completion and graduate programs
- Manage all aspects of the admissions process for online programming
- Manage all aspects leading to delivery of completed applications for graduate programming
- Collaborate with marketing office on digital lead generation strategy
- Work with academic departments and Program Coordinators to develop a recruitment plan per program
- Identify target markets and partnerships using prospective student and enrolled student data to cultivate and build successful new graduate and online enrollment pipelines
- Develop high-quality information sessions, organize recruitment events, and other activities to connect with, engage, and inform future students.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree in a field of study related to the current online programs, higher education leadership, or related field preferred

Reports to: Director of Housing and Residence Life
Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks candidates to serve as the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life. This position is directly responsible for the supervision of on-campus housing, including educational and administrative efforts for the Office of Housing and Residence Life (“H&RL”). The Associate Director provides leadership to Graduate assistants and student staff and assists in the development of H&RL policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with H&RL administration, supervision, management, and programming
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assist with overall administration and daily operation of on-campus residence halls
- Foster a community environment with opportunities for personal and academic growth and leadership development by operating from a student development framework
- Support the H&RL Director with preparation and management of budgets for on-campus residence halls and long range budget planning
- Assist with annual review and revision, as needed, of the H&RL policies and procedures
- Assist the H&RL Director with oversight of maintenance and appearance of H&RL facilities
- Serve as the secondary system administrator for the Catawba housing management system.
- Coordinate housing services with appropriate Catawba offices and personnel, including IT, Facilities, Dining Services, Finance Office, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Admissions
- Support, interpret, and enforce Catawba and H&RL policies, procedures, and regulations, including those regarding eligibility, occupancy, assignments, and refunds
- Serve as a Catawba conduct officer and/or member of the Catawba Title IX team as needed
- Participate in Catawba recruitment and retention initiatives
- Maintain H&RL social media platforms up to date, review and revise relevant publications, and monitor and edit the H&RL webpage(s)
- Serve as part of the H&RL Residence Life On-Call team
- Select, train, evaluate, and supervise H&RL Graduate Assistants, Resident Assistants, and Desk Assistants to provide an enhanced on-campus living experience
- Direct residence education efforts to support retention, progression and graduation of students, to include effective evaluation and ongoing assessment of initiatives created by the H&RL Director
- Coordinate, or assist with, operation of the Catawba move-in program
- With the H&RL Director, support other vital areas of the H&RL co-curricular aspects, and work with faculty, staff, and other academic staff to create a seamless environment between living and learning components of campus life.
- Direct the billing of room charges and meal plans
- Develop goals for planning and evaluation
- Attend all department meetings
- Lead H&RL committees as requested and serve on Catawba committees as needed
- Lead, or assist with, the day-to-day operation of summer school and summer orientation to include check-ins, check-outs, and staff supervision
- Be available 24/7 for crisis situations, offer immediate support and resources to students involved and update appropriate people in timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in college Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field required
- Minimum three (3) years full time experience in Housing/Residence Life required
- Experience supervising Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistant required
- Skills in community development, to include organizing and planning student programming, student group advisement, and assessment efforts
- Experience in recruiting, selecting, and training Resident Assistant staff preferred
- Experience working with residential curriculum preferred
- Must have ability to analyze, interpret, and apply policy and procedural guidelines and solve problems

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Athletics Development, the Athletic Development Coordinator assists in coordinating the activities of the Chiefs Club and other Department of Athletics funds in order to meet the goals and objectives through fundraising, marketing assistance and solicitation, and retention of members. This role provides critical operational support, including preparing analytical reports, answering donor inquiries, managing donor and other constituent correspondence, participating in key committee work, facilitating events, and other day-to-day operational needs of the Catawba Department of Athletics and its staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Assist the Senior Director of Athletics Development with the strategy and implementation of Athletics fundraising campaigns for alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, season ticket holders, and corporations
- Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of all Chiefs Club Fund and Catawba Athletics Fund solicitations in partnership with Catawba and Development communications
- Seek new Chiefs Club memberships and Athletics Fund donors on an ongoing basis, concentrating on young alumni, former student-athletes, and donors annually contributing $1,000 and below
- Manage and coordinate event registration process for all donor athletic events
- Collaborate with alumni events team when appropriate for athletic events
- Work closely with individual teams/sports to execute fundraising events and initiatives, including golf outings and fundraising dinners
- Expand donor engagement opportunities by coordinating and executing a variety of donor-centric events including, but not limited to Athletics Hall of Fame inductions, football tailgates, basketball pregame gatherings, athletic special event fundraising, and conference tournament hospitality

- Direct the Cheerleading and Dance Program, including but not limited to scheduling and conducting practices, coaching during home football & basketball contests, ensuring participants performing from start to finish of contests, oversight of dance team, and being prepared to perform during other select contests and Catawba events during the year

JOB PURPOSE
The Head coach will be responsible for managing all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of Lacrosse skills. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations
- The head coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport.
- Recruiting quality student-athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits
- Commitment to and the management of program budget
- Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations
- Provide academic support and oversight for all student-athletes
- Game scheduling
- Practice and game planning and implementation
- Player development and evaluation
- Supervise an effective strength and conditioning program
- Managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.)
- Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
- Day to day program administration
- Preparing scouting reports, scouting/film analysis
- Actively assist with program fundraising and development of alumni and community relations

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
- Successful collegiate coaching experience is preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in on field instruction and knowledge of the game
- Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and on the field
- Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes
- Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and manage a competitive Women’s Volleyball program are important
- Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in distance education, instructional technology, instructional design, educational leadership, adult/continuing education, or related fields strongly preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in electronic learning in an academic setting required
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects on various timelines
- Comprehensive understanding of distance education methodologies
- Demonstrated success of working in or with an academic environment

Under the direction of the Director of Wellness Center and Intramural Sports, the Intramural Sports Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all team, singles, and doubles sport activities and special events/programs for Intramural Sports. The chosen candidate will develop and conduct officials’ training clinics, recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate sports officials/supervisors for intramural activities in major team sports, promote and market intramural programs and activities, plan and schedule all singles/doubles activities, and assist with student payroll, budget planning, policy development, and equipment inventory/purchasing process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the administration of assigned intramural sports, including planning, registration, scheduling, and evaluating programs
