The Catawba Class Giving Challenge is up and running and will continue through May 31st. Can your class top the charts in the most classmates participating (by %) and most money raised? To participate, make a gift to any area of the College that you are passionate about (MIND BODY SOUL campaign initiatives, scholarships, Catawba Fund, ANYTHING included). The classes that have the most participation and the most money raised will be celebrated at the Alumni Awards and Brunch during Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 25-27), 2019. Watch Cat-U News each month for updates on The Class Giving Challenge standings!

Membership in the Catawba Chiefs Club, Catawba College’s athletics booster organization, has crossed the 500-member mark for the second straight year. One hundred new members helped the organization meet the membership goal first attained in 2018 and retain its moniker, the "Catawba 500."

Catawba College is establishing a new honors society for
first-generation college students, and is only the second higher education institution in North Carolina to do so. Two Catawba first-year employees, Dr. Kimberly A. Smith, an Associate Professor of Exercise Science, and Marcus Washington, Director of Housing and Residence Life, are the impetus and the new advisors behind the establishment of the Alpha Alpha Alpha Honors Society at Catawba.

The word "interim" was removed from Meg Kluttz Dees’ title at Catawba College. The Salisbury native has decided to remain a part of the Catawba College administration permanently as Vice President of Development.

Catawba College is pleased to announce the founding of the
Unanue Scholars Program. The program is named to honor the memory of distinguished alumna, Mary Ann Unanue ’81, who rose through the ranks of Goya Foods, Inc. to the position of Vice President before her passing in 2009 at the age of 49.

In a close competition, Catawba College bested Wake Forest University in the finals of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) 8th Annual Ethics Bowl. The theme for this year was Ethics in the Environment, and the topic for the finals round was “Sunscreen and the Environment.”

In its first exhibition, members of the new Catawba’s Esports team went head-to-head against UNCC Esports players in a League of Legends Show match Sunday, February 3rd, and won 2 to 1 in a best of three-game matchup. The match, played live at UNCC, was streamed on Twitch.tv and showcased five of Catawba’s Esports players whose specialty is League of Legends play. Read More |

at least 5 classmates from a reunion class to form a planning committee for those classes that wish to have individual reunion events during Homecoming. All reunion classes will be honored at a new, All Campus Party Saturday evening of Homecoming Weekend.
