The new Greg and Missy Alcorn Digital Learning Lab is now open! Boasting fabulous equipment such as virtual reality, a video editing studio, 3D printers, and more, this new resource has already been a hit with students.

The lights at Whitley Softball Field have been installed! As part of the Mind Body Soul Campaign, stadium lights were installed, allowing our athletes to play at night, leading to fewer missed games and practices. Thank you to all who helped make this dream a reality. Check out the video below!

Students in the Environment and Sustainability program took to Charlotte in support of the Fridays for the Future movement, a movement seeking a more conscientious government when it comes to climate change. |

Dr. Andrew Jacobson, Assistant Professor of GIS and Conservation, is the lead author of a National Geographic funded research paper analyzing how much of the Earth’s landscape humans actually use. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Biology students Austin Snide, Jasmine Wiitala, and Cheyenne Smith received North Carolina Academy of Sciences (NCAS) Yarbrough awards for their research and projects. The students plan to present their work at several local, regional, and national scientific conferences. |

Dr. Ken Clapp’s First-Year Seminar Class traveled to Jonas Ridge, N.C. for a class retreat. The goal of the retreat was to get students to think about who they are as individuals and reflect on ways to improve themselves. |

Students from Andi Cantrell and Kim Porter’s First-Year Seminar classes visited the Poor People’s Campaign in Salisbury. Students got to talk with people that work to combat social justice and systemic issues. Read more. |

One priority of the Body campaign is to install a turf field at Shuford stadium. Artificial turf helps prevent injuries, reduce drainage times, and is easier to maintain. Watch the video for more information.
