The Catawba Class Giving Challenge is up and running and will continue through May 31st. Can your class top the charts in the most classmates participating (by %) and most money raised? To participate, make a gift to any area of the College that you are passionate about (MIND BODY SOUL campaign initiatives, scholarships, Catawba Fund, ANYTHING included). The classes that have the most participation and the most money raised will be celebrated at the Alumni Awards and Brunch during Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 25-27), 2019. Watch Cat-U News each month for updates on The Class Giving Challenge standings!

The Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame will induct five new members in its Class of 2019 during a dinner ceremony on November 15, marking the Hall of Fame's 42nd anniversary. Inductees include Maher Atta ’93 (Men’s Soccer), Paige Haverty Stalcup ’06 (Women’s Golf), Radell Lockhart ’01 (Football), Melissa Schiffel Price ’02 (Women’s Swimming) and David Thomas ’08 (Baseball).

Catawba College
Teacher Education students recently visited Overton Elementary School to engage first and second grade students in activities connected to multicultural literature. The Catawba students visited the school as part of their field experiences for their Literature for Children and Youth course. The visit served two goals – to provide an enriching experience through multicultural literature for the Overton students and to provide an opportunity for Catawba students to begin to develop and hone their strategies for teaching.

Catawba was selected to host the North Carolina Honors Association annual meeting in the fall of 2020 in Salisbury, NC. Additionally, Catawba, along with UNCC, will host the Southern Regional Honors Council conference in spring 2021 in Charlotte, NC.
