Merit-Based Scholarships range from $8,000 to full tuition and are based on a student’s academic performance in high school and/or prior college. All students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships once they are granted admission to Catawba College.

Catawba College's Most Prestigious Scholarship Award

Qualified students will be invited to compete for a full-tuition scholarship on the basis of their high school GPA. To be considered, students must have a weighted GPA of 4.0 or greater or an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or greater and admitted by November 1. Applying for the scholarship automatically submits an application to the Honors Program.

Competition Date: November 19, 2021

Deadline: Once accepted and invited to participate, all supporting materials must be submitted or postmarked by November 8th at noon.

A Full Tuition Scholarship

This award is for top students who excel in two or more of the primary values of Catawba: Scholarship, Character, Culture, and Service. Eligible students have engaged in an activity that sets them apart, such as starting their own service organization, initiating a new club, excelling as a leader in their school or community, starting their own business, or conducting a research project. To be considered, students must be admitted by February 1, 2022. 

Teachers, school/guidance counselors, admissions counselors, or community members may nominate a first-time, admitted student by contacting the student's admissions counselor. Relatives may not  nominate students. 

Competition Date: March 18, 2022

Deadline: Once invited to participate, all supporting information must be submitted by March 1, 2022.

Merit scholarships include the Presidential, Trustee, Deans, Pillars, and Founders Scholarships and are awarded based a student's academic performance in high school and/or prior college. All students are automatically considered once they are granted admission to Catawba.
