Strategic Plan

Level to branch for links at 4

President David Nelson announced at the Spring Town Hall on May 5, 2022, that Dr. Constance Rogers-Lowery and Earl Givens will co-chair Catawba College's Strategic Planning Steering Group. Members of the Steering Group will be appointed in early June, drawn from recommendations received from the campus community in recent weeks, including our Student Government Association, Staff Council, and Faculty Senate.

After interviewing a number of candidates to help facilitate the strategic planning process, Dr. Christine Lynn, who has served as Director of Online Learning at Catawba since 2021, was chosen to work with Dr. Lowery and Givens, as Executive Director of Strategic Planning, and will focus on facilitation and project management of this process. Dr. Lynn previously helped lead such a process at Walsh University, working directly with President Tim Collins, the Walsh campus community, and their Board of Trustees. Dr. Lynn brings considerable gifts to this work, and we are grateful for her willingness to serve our campus in this way. We will now search for an outside strategy consultant to advise us during this process, giving us an outside perspective on the plan we will develop as a campus community. Dr. Lynn will be assisted by Kathryn Webb '22, who will assist with administration and logistics.

As Dr. Lynn assumes duties as Executive Director of Strategic Planning, we are ensuring the Catawba Online program continues to develop and grow under new leadership. Mary Beth Messner will serve as Director of Online Programming and Instructional Design, focusing on delivery of high-quality online programs through instructional design and technology and specialized student success services for online learners. Additionally, we are currently searching for a Senior Director of Admissions for Online and Graduate Programs to continue our development of marketing and recruiting strategies for these programs.
