Professor Berrier specializes in Maternal/Child Health and Mental Health in the Department of Nursing curriculum. Prior to joining Catawba, Professor Berrier provided services for women and children's health, through various roles at Wake Forest Baptist Health Lexington Medical Center and Davidson County Health Department. Professor Berrier's research interests include improving women's health in North Carolina and at large through education of emergency providers, as well as, applying Smith and Liehr's Story theory to therapeutic relationships in order to provide holistic, empathetic care. Professor Berrier's teaching philosophy focuses on serving as a role model and facilitator, empowering students to be active participants in their education, and valuing the unique differences that each of her students bring to Catawba College and the nursing profession.
